SOBE Fest 2016 Recap

SOBE Fest 2016 Recap

Hey y’all!  This year’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival was especially awesome, so I wanted to share some of my favorite moments with you!  This was an jam packed year as I had events just about every day of the festival.  Between hosting Tacos After Dark (thanks again to Lee Schrager and team for bringing this event back!) to participating in the Tribute Dinner honoring my mentor, Chef Jonathan Waxman, and the culinary demonstrations, it was a fast-paced weekend.

This year, the festival brought Boiling Point to the Grand Tasting Village, which was a super fun trivia/challenge game show with some of my favorite people – Amanda Freitag, GZ,  Scott Conant, Alex Guarnaschelli, Guy Fieri, and Jose Garces.  Making an omelet blindfolded, while Guy fed me tequila shots wasn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done, but hey, who doesn’t love a challenge.

I was especially honored to cook along side some of the best chefs in the world – Bobby Flay, Tyler Florence, Marcus Samuelsson, Marc Forgione and Nancy Silverton for Jonathan.  He’s shaped the lives (and careers) of so many talented chefs, he’s really an icon in our community and it was great to honor him and everything he’s accomplished in his career.

It was also great reuniting with my Chopped cohorts for the Chopped Bloody Mary Brunch on Sunday in Ft. Lauderdale.  Totally worth getting up early if I get to see those guys!  For everyone who came out for the festival and supported us, we appreciate it and hope to see you again next year!

Such an awesome crowd came out for my demo at the Grand Tasting Village on Saturday
