I had such a great time shooting episode one of [Re]Generation with Tastemade and Cacique®. Cacique’s values of family and authenticity, inspired me to share many of the dishes that I make at my restaurant, Johnny Sánchez, and at home. All of these recipes are rooted in family tradition and my intention is to carry on my legacy and honor my heritage for generations to come.

Chicken flautas are one of my absolute favorite dishes. I love these because they’re crunchy, delicious, and remind me of home. One thing about food is it is inherently fleeting, but by sharing recipes and stories, we keep the tradition alive. I remember making these with my family when I was a kid and they were always a staple at our big gatherings. These guys are loaded with flavor; between the chicken filling, the fried tortilla and the Cacique® Queso Fresco and Crema Mexicana, these are sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Food is all about sharing with your family and loved ones, and creating memories together. If you want to get your kids, siblings, parents or friends in the kitchen and make this a group effort—y’all can have a great time with these!

The three key elements of this recipe are the chicken filling, the frying of the flauta, and of course the delicious toppings (most of all the pickled jalapeños and Cacique® Crema Mexicana)! With these amazing flavors, it’s hard to go wrong. I hope you all devour this dish with as much delight as I did when I first tasted it as a kid— it’s truly one of those special moments. Cook, eat and enjoy!
